This collaborative virtual space is designed to assist individuals and organizations/groups in the Region of the Americas willing to submit contributions to organizing committees of technical meetings, congresses or conferences, but whose limited experience restrains them to do it. It was developed by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Family and Community Health (FCH) and Information and Knowledge Management (IKM) Areas, with collaboration of BIREME/PAHO/WHO, using a Virtual Health Library Methodology tool.
Taking advantage of the upcoming XVII International AIDS Conference to be held in Mexico City in August 2008, the PAHO Family and Community Health Area is launching this mechanism as a “paper clinic” for this conference. Tutorship will be provided to some promising abstracts to improve their quality before submission to this conference.
Whereas PAHO can’t provide any warranty that the reviewed abstracts will be accepted, it can make a serious commitment that the quality of the abstracts and, later on, of the accepted contributions will be enhanced through the development of competencies in the field of preparation of abstracts, papers, and presentations, whether oral or as posters.
By contributing to improve the overall quality of submissions, PAHO/FCH expects that a greater number of contributions from the Region will be accepted and presented during the scientific program of this important event.
This Collaborative Virtual Space includes reference papers, presentations and links about the techniques and art of writing scientific proposals and papers and virtual tools for exchange of information and experiences, like forums and chats.
For abstract submission or follow-up of the review process, see specific Instructions.
